Lovely overnight anchorage

Are those recent pics, Tico? If so, how long will the puffins stick around? It looks to be a beautiful spot to anchor, one day we’ll try to bring Eos your way and see for ourselves.
And nice boat, what is she?

Last time we stayed at the Burgh Island Hotel was when my wife was pregnant with our son (25 years ago). We had three nights in the room above the Seafood Restaurant in Padstow and two nights in the Burgh Island Hotel. I think the bill for the two stays was under £750.

Back in the 80's I, together with a few mates, looked into buying the then derelict Burgh Island Hotel. If I remember correctly it was on the market for £300k. It was eventually bought I believe by someone in the fashion industry from London who started the renovation. I had dinner there on a number of occasions and downed many pints in the island pub, The Pilchard Inn. Good times :)

That would have been a good investment! The Pilchard is a fine place to enjoy a few pints.

On the way to Scilly a few years back we had a night in Hope Cove, just a few miles E of Burgh Island. It was blowing a very stiff Easterly but tucked just in around the corner of Bolt Tail we could see white water just a few hundred yards away whilst we were in millpond like conditions. The sunset that night was spectacular

And then mirror calm seas past Lands End. That’s me taking a pic of the reflection of the bows.

And then another sunset, back in the river Dart

It was so spectacular even the river officers were out taking pics. The best sunset I ever saw on the river.

Nice pics LJS, thanks for posting. We don’t see many father and son boating trips in seperate boats, great to see.

I love your boat, excellent trawler style, is yours powered by Lehman’s, Cat 3208 NA or something else?
Thanks Andie. 2 Lehman 135s. 6 cylinder naturally aspirated, easy to work on, cheap readily available parts.
