Lot of armchair know it alls on here!

So its confession time.

I admit to almost exclusively posting from an arm chair (or sofa aka a lounge), or some times a kitchen chair. Does a kitchen chain count or is the advice worse from a kitchen chair?

We have effectively unlimited internet access at home and very limited access on the boat - I thus very seldom post from the boat, and certainly not when actually sailing (I have other priorities when sailing - like watching where we are going, or looking at tell tails). Unlimited access means I can check links and include pictures (all obviously erroneous) as making a search with restricted access and YBW gobbling up my limited access as if its a poke of French fries is frustrating.

This admission simply confirms what so many have said - I post a load of repetitive, rubbish. :D

So honesty time folks - how many join me in posting from an armchair.

Personally I find the armchair location quite conducive as commonly my mind is blank (though my wife tells me this is increasingly evident all the time) but being blank I can devote my attention to one topic, YBW (which then fills my mind to the exclusion of all else)

She is really quite lovely down below.
And I am sure that those armchairs would be very comfy for having a snooze in if you are sailing (or even hove to) on port tack.
What make is she please? I am guessing maybe a Malo or Hallberg Rassy?

Re armchairs, I am reminded of Mary Falk who had a rally car chair at her chart table on her yacht Q II, custom designed for her by the legendary Mike Pocock - for a singlehander a seat like this (where you can even strap yourself in) does make a lot of sense really.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mary once, briefly, in Cherbourg one bank holiday weekend in the early 90's - Q II was moored next to us. She was an amazing and very accomplished sailor.

Yes, Malö. That picture was taken by the broker just before we bought her, she’s not as tidy now, a little more “lived in”!

i can see the argument that a bench seat is more practical than the armchairs but we didn’t have a choice, she is what she is, beggars can’t be choosers, we’re not reconfiguring her! If one had the luxury of specifying a brand new Malö I reckon it would be a tough choice - armchairs or bench. It’s a first world problem!

Ok...let’s put the definitive word here...my little motorboat had a small two man sofa bed as the only fixed furniture...with footstools, it was passably comfortable for two...but the real pleasure came when lying down...but only one person could do that and it would lead to argument (which the dog would solve by taking the sofa over completely....so I replaced the sofa bed (which weighed a ton?) with a double electric recliner....so so comfortable...two can relax in great comfort (or one man and a dog)...and I put a battery between the plug and controller...so even if the generator is not on we can still recline them....the best boat improvement I ever made...and that is my armchair expert opinion ?

Looking at small under thirty yachts a few years ago I chose the Albin Vega as it had two good straightforward settee/beds in the saloon many of the others had dinettes or trotter boxes or only one proper berth.Thereality on a boat is your either up and about on lookout or cooking etc but you need a place to lie down with no nonsense.

This reminds me of the great Sam Goldwyn retort to the actors and crew on set.

Lord help us if this sofa surfer gets on the subject of anchors, you might learn something. With Neeves on the case it should be a short thread, thank goodness.

I have two armchairs on starboard. Direct to ignore. Do not pass go. Do not collect £200!

Must be a real pain in the arse to get the tap water to go down those 2 holes.

Nice boat.

When I was a boy, world was better spot
What was so was so, what was not was not
Now, I am a man, world have changed a lot
Some things nearly so, others nearly not

There are times I almost think
I am not sure of what I absolutely know
Very often find confusion
In conclusion, I concluded long ago

In my head are many facts
That, as a student, I have studied to procure
In my head are many facts
Of which I wish I was more certain, I was sure

Is a puzzlement

I never get as far as under the flap , tend to pile up on top . The only time the chart table is clear is when we off sailing or of I happen to go away for some reason and left the other half behind .
Ahhhh...the dreaded tidy up...all your systems for finding things gone for a burton
