Lost dinghy, southern Thames Estuary

Friend of mine had to cast off his towing dinghy after it capsized on Thursday night in bad weather near the Spile buoy, NE of Warden Point.
He has since found the oars on shore near Warden Point. If anyone sees or finds the dinghy please let me know by PM..............it is marked up, altho I won't say here what it says......and it is wooden, looks like a Mirror dinghy but with a pointed bow, and is painted light blue.

Yes he did, and I have also told the three local CG teams as well as I happen to know all the team leaders!

I was at our holiday home about 1/2 a mile from Shellness Friday evening until Saturday evening and there was no sign of it on the beach along there. The sea was quite rough with the F6 NE, I would think it would have taken quite a pounding on the beach unless someone managed to recover it as it came in.

Owner has done a lot of walking now without any luck, and the thinking is that unless it's in someone's garage, it might have ended up in the Medway.

I'd be surprised if it ended up in the Medway. Most things seem to drift West to East along that stretch of coast, if it didn't sink I would have thought it wouldn't have been too far from the oars. It is more likely to turn up in the boot fair in Leysdown or on ebay.

I once watched a small white GRP pram dinghy drift along about 3/4 a mile off shore in a NW breeze. The Sheppey Yacht Club Round the Island race was going on and no one took a blind bit of notice of it. I went out in our rib to investigate finding it completely empty apart from some bits of grass and sea weed. I towed it ashore and reported it to the Coast Guard and the local team attended. We all came to the conclusion that it had probably floated off a beach or the marshes on the recent Spring tides. It was reported to the Police and never claimed.
It was before this forum existed, or I was aware of it. I guess now there would have been more chance of finding the owner.
