Loss of post

I’m getting a bit annoyed with the forum , not sure if it’s my internet or not.
Scenario is I will type up a reply to a post and while doing it the page is lost , message says page refreshing , then the whole lot is lost .
Getting a bit bored with it TBH .
I use an IPad most of the time .

I just typed up a long reply on EGT issues but lost it just before I hit post.

Been chucked off many times recently and lost the post .
Kinda 1/2 excused perhaps poor internet a momentary cut etc but it’s only this forum .
Pic uploading is very convoluted by other forums standards .
It all feels very clunky and out of date imho .

If it’s a long one I type in notes and then copy n paste it across. Just too risky relying on the post box .

I often type long replies in Notepad or do a "select all" and "copy" before posting.

I’ve never done pics because of the way you need another provider or however it’s done now , why is it so easy on other forums to include pics like FB etc , if it was easier I could give a lot more info and post stuff on here on a daily basis when I’m at work , sort of blogging if you like .

Well the forum is running vBulletin® Version 4.2.3 which was i believe introduced 2015
latest version is 5.5.2

Who actually runs the forum? Is the the publishing company for YBW?

It is very old skool... I tend to use Facebook more than the forum now. Upload a pic in seconds, get a reply within half an hour, and problems solved. Replies usually with a pic on how to sort any issues I have with my boat. Done...

i agree. I posted loads of the refurb i did and it was a popular thread . I don't even know how to post a pic now other than in a silly thumbnail

I have harped on and on about this but no one listens at YBW towers.

Old software, using a 3rd party to host photos AFTER you have already lost all your content when they changed policies is simply unforgivable. No App, and using volunteer moderators to police what I suspect ( if managed well - look at Pistonheads) would be your prime revenue source post the demise of print ( which wavers between happening and a slight resurgence).

Intrusive advertising ( did others get the large pink festival in Bulgaria?) that simply forces use of an ad blocker that then kills their revenue. Back button problem partic on mobile devices - nothing done etc.

It seems managed off the side of a desk by an office junior with no budget.

I have said this umpteen times before so I suspect my mini rant will result in not the slightest change!

They can do what they want, but it annoys me when someone is messing up running a business to such a degree!

IT ( computers) are not my forte , but I know carp when I use it and recognise ease of use , user friendly which this is not !
I think the forum is loosing its use little by little by degrees subconsciously one gravitates to the user friendly forums .
The add thing was haven’t really thought about it except on a phone an add sometimes blows the whole screen area by the time you scroll down to say the 4 th of 5 th heading / post .You touch the screen to attempt to move it up to find the bottom of the add and thus line 6 of the recent posts and hey presto it opens because of fat finger or too much pressure etc .

Other forums the adds / sponsors are discreet at the side margins so there’s no chance of opening up them .
