Looks like the seaplanes are back

Twin Otters are fantastic planes there is service using a float plane one from St Thomas in the USVIs to St Croix to the south. They also are fantastic jump planes and my favourites after a C130 Hercules, 12,000 feet in just over 7 minutes, a Herc is just under six minutes.

I think that there is more chance of pushing melted butter up a Porcupines bum with a hot knife than the seaplanes returning to the Ionian. We have even lost the Sami to Patras ferry now.

according to the map in the link. they will not be using Gouvia but somewhere south of Corfu town? If true seems strange when they went to the expense of building a hangar at Gouvia marina just before they folded.

Dimitris and Ioannis got that and use it for their machines now!

I enquired, and I eventually got the following answer from the above mentioned company

Dear Sir
Thanks for your email and your interest to use our services.

We are currently in the process of licencing water-aerodromes around the country and for sure Ionian islands and Brindisi are in our plans. We expect that we will be operational in the summer of 2014. Due to the on going developments we have not published a fixed timetable yet until we are certain for the network.

At the moment ,we recommend to visit our website often in order to be informed about any new developments in our water-aerodromes and seaplane project.

We are looking forward to providing you with our services.
