Does anyone know of a chemical that wil pour like water but will then harden without shrinking. It will need to be water proof, but it won't be immersed in water.
Thanks

Nope.... I will need perhaps a couple of litres...not too sure as I can't see the void to fill. About two seasons ago I got rid of my lifting plate and closed the hole up and filled the gap with hot tar and lead ballest. At the time, when I had full access, I foolishly did not fill completely with tar. Now I have only a 2inch hole max to pour fluid into the void to bring it upto the top and seal the void and so reduce the risk of any water sitting in there. Complicated to explain i know.

Either use waterbased epoxy, from John at Tradboats, or normal epoxy, thinned with meths. both would do the job. You could also just used epoxy with slow hardener warmed up to make it thin, use of slow hardener allows it to run into the cracks etc much more easily, or rather gives it time to do it.

I think that the best juice for you is expanding polyurethane foam. It will expand to something like 8 times the volume that you pour in, and will fill every nook and cranny. Beware of pouring too much in, though, because it can exert a force when expanding. It is better to pour the stuff in in small lots and build it up gradually. I used it when building my icebox as the insulation, and it found leaks that I had no idea were there and plugged them for me.

creeping crack fluid is quite expensive , i reckon that it's just watered down pva ?
ronseal wood hardener is what i've used in the past to good effect
