The title says it all, really. I'd like to have something like that for sucking as fully as possible any residual bilge water which get stuck in weird corners, after washing the bilge for instance.
It doesn't have to be powerful, but smallish and easy to move around, reliable also when working dry, and possibly with a fair (as opposed to nautical!) price tag. Oh, and it has to be 24V, though I might also arrange to feed it with 12V, if unavailable with 24V motor.
Any suggestion about a simple and effective thingie is welcome, TIA!

PS: coming to think of it, it might as well be 230V AC powered. It's something that I would only use while docked anyway!

Mapism, I bought this cheapo pump for the tender and our bilges. It’s crap but just about does the job down to about 3ml - then it’s a diaper or two to finish the job.

Don’t think it’s quite what you’re after but handy around the boat, specially if you want to empty the tender without tilting or removing the bung.

For 10$ worth having on board but watching the thread as I’d like a better solution....

My boat has a small Flojet self priming pump which I think is to get the dregs out. Excuse dirty bilges, now much cleaner.

Some pics...

It's not currenty sucking anything up, anyone got any ideas for fixing it?

Strangely enough i've been trying to do the same job.
Results so far
1. Pela vacuum pump.... works well but you have to keep pumping and its a bugga trying to pump with one hand and hold the hose into the bilge with the other.
2. wet/dry vacuum cleaner.... works a treat, gets things really dry BUT is a bit big to carry about
3. Whale 'Gulper 220' shower pump (12v but they do a 24v version) (claimed to be self priming up to 1.5m and able to pump a mix of air and water.... works OK, but does not get things as dry as #2. small size and easy to plug into 12v

Would welcome any better suggestions

I use a wet/dry vacuum cleaner
is very handy for all kind of dirty jobs,
its a essential machine in my small boat workshop.

24V - https://www.amazon.co.uk/SEAFLO-Pressure-Diaphragm-Priming-Caravan/dp/B01N3P7XHL

12V - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-130P...Priming-Water-Pump-Caravan-Boat-/223017685963

Now what I use is different as it will not self prime but I am happy enough to give it a kick start with a bit of a siphon suck. It is tiny and stows away conveniently.

Any residue I use a Pela pump but to be honest working with the lines with a Pela is a bit of a faff.

Thanks Porto. That'll keep me out of trouble for a hour or so!

Incidentally, does anyone know where I could get a replacement switch?

P. We used a windscreen washer pump (ours was 12V, but truck ones are 24V). A couple of metres a small clear plastic pipe for use as a roving “pick up” and a longer length for the waste (perhaps to a toilet or a sink). Worked surprisingly well. Put a switch in the power supply close to the pump and a couple of battery crocodile clips on the other end to make usage easy.
A few examples here, but you will have more convenient IT sellers.

My setup drains into the shower sump. Except when there is an oil spillage.

Thanks folks, some good ideas indeed.
I did think of a wet+dry vacuum cleaner, but all the ones I came across are pretty big, which is a nuisance for both using and storing them.
Is anyone aware of a reasonably compact model?

I also like Pinnacle's proposal of a windscreen washer pump, 'cause as I said I'm looking more for convenience/portability, rather than sheer power.
Otoh, I suspect that it could easily get stuck whenever ingesting even smallish bits of dirt.
P, did you possibly use the thing with a filter of some sort on the pickup hose?

I have one that looks like this one:

Its a bit cheap and cheerfull, and the capacity is limited, and you need to keep the unit not too high above the water you are removing.
But it does do the job. Could probably be DIY'd into a better product by improving the seal between lid and base and substituting the suction hose for a better one.

J, I don't understand how the thing can work for suction. Is it just a matter of using it reversed?

Anyway, your suggestion made me think of one option I didn't consider. Since I've got compressed air onboard (a whopping 10 bar of it!), is there maybe any accessory that can be attached to it, exploiting compressed air for liquids suction?
