I wear rugby shirts because they are tough. I also have a long sleeved polo shirt which is lighter. A rummage in T K Maxx will produce something.
I have one but it would be far too hot in the summer. In S Brittany.Breton fishermen's smocks are excellent. They keep the wind off and roll up small which is useful on a small boat
Lightweight rugby shirt??
Don't you need a shirt made out of anti-UV material like they use in Oz?Following on from the Tilley hat thread and concerning sun protection, where can one find light (cotton) long-slieved shirts. I love the sun but it's not reciprocal.
Ideally they should be gathered in at the wrists - a bit like pirate shirts of old - as well as a substantial collar which can be turned up.
This company specialise in no UV for people who need it , you can get it from UK suppliers , it is not the cheapest but is good qualityDon't you need a shirt made out of anti-UV material like they use in Oz?
Probably best not to wear that when you go to the bank!View attachment 87029
This is my sunhat now.
Bought in australia. (Machine washable.) I used to lather sunscreen on and come home from sailing with a real glow plus irritated eyes from sweat plus sunscreen.
Now i come home with a cool head and feel better for it! Its nice and cool to wear and stays on up to 25 knots wind speed.
Now like op looking for long sleeved shirts.

You probably don't want to stray too close to a warship in Portsmouth Harbour looking like that!View attachment 87029

Don't think that a vest will be needed. Thanks everybody for the suggestions. If it looks like we will be able to sail this summer I will invest.
