Surprised by the low entries, would have thought the world and his yacht would have done it as the only significant offshore race of the year.
Maybe people couldn't get the qualification done.

Sensible decision. ECMWF forecasts 55kt winds off Cape Clear tomorrow evening with the possibility of explosive deepening. Other models foresee nothing so violent.

A bit like the weather gods' version of:
But being as this is a . 44 magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?”
Safe passage on the shortened course to all boats (y)

Why are you surprised? It's been a funny year nothing is as it was.
Well, the fastnet sells out in a day with several hundred entries so there must be some boats that don't get in. Then round Ireland was cancelled afew weeks ago so some south coast boats that had qualified for that might have looked for an alternative. It has been a funny year but people still have boats and like racing.

But this is not the Fastnet. So has no history.

Giver that we have only been allowed to go sailing there has been no time to work up a competitive crew and/ or boat; I've only just completed the winters work on the boat.
