Has anyone been to Gallions Point? Is it any good?
Just got back from doing a job in Limehouse, loads of room in there at the moment, I have to say I always find them accommodating whether boating or working, including the SA guy and they always let me park in the lock area. South Dock (where my workshop and offices are) is undergoing improvements, the comms to central London are great, take the Thames Clipper from the marina to all the tourist areas. Facilities are basic but improving and the recent addition of a Tesco Metro right outside the main basin has made provisioning easy. The staff are second to none and there are good onsite facilities for emergency repairs etc. Oh, and the resident berth holders are very friendly and helpful.
Who is the little chap who seemed to be in charge of berthing & the lock about 3 yrs ago.The new moorings in Limehouse are commercial only, and originally were meant to be removed after the Olympics. No doubt BWML are trying to change that, and someone told me just yesterday they have started to fill them. Not sure if they have got a planning change through or what.
I know many people who are well unhappy with Emar, totally believe everything they have told me about him and what he has said to them. Although in my frequent dealings with him he has always been fine.
Lovely Robyn who is normally managing things is on long-term leave, and has been for some months now, no return date last time I enquired.
Sanctimonious Jeremy, has a boat at Limehouse, hence the 'not going far away' comment at a guess.
BWML management further up the chain still rude, incompetent and bulling.
South Dock, as has been mentioned much improved, and getting better all the time, staff great.
Gallions - dump, but not been there for ages.
After 16 yrs i know how to handle by boat, that twat, doesntAny lock keeper who asks me for a Stern line first will get it around his neck and get towed upstream as fast as possible.
Non tidal Thames lockies are far nicer than the London riffraff![]()
The Limehouse lockie, little grey haired chap with a baseball hat@Sailorman: Which particular tawt are you referring to!?
CJL. Imperial Wharf was built only about three years ago, yet is now full of permanent moorers.
Thats the way things will go: as property gets more and more expensive, the value of full time moorings becomes greater, and it simply pays better to have 365 day a year custom.

Oh I agree 100% but shouldn't the PLA have a duty to provide proper visitor moorings in London for short stays?? Its kinda underused bit of waterway otherwise! Somehow I suspect that Paris and similar cities have some decent short term public moorings.
Perhaps the PLA should become part of TfL then they have to respond to users needs??

The barge traffic at HW would make pontoons on the tidal river untenable
How come? There are plenty of suitable areas that could be developed and have enough space on the river still.
