I am thinking of adding a wireless remote control to replace the wired one. There seem to be two Lofrans remote controls on the market: a grey one and a black mini one, if I want just to control the one winch, what is there to choose between them apart from price? Some seem to use non marine equipment, perhaps meant for garage doors which are much cheaper but in the marine environment are the ones sold by the winch manufacturers more reliable? I expect more water resistant if nothing else.

I have been looking at the water resistant cheap ones such as this F21-2S 100M Wireless Remote Control Lift Electric Hoist Crane Winch Industrial | eBay for a bowthruster

I've had similar for years without problems. Mine were bought as a pair and are interoperable with the wireless sensor. The only problem I have now is that the original Lofrans plug in device was stolen and the wireless controllers are all we have for the windlass :(
