Lockdown sailing

They do look a bit close, but surfing ought to count as exercise, and blowing off a bit of steam from time to time is a good thing - I expect we can keep 95% compliance going an awful lot longer, and therefore with much more effect, than 99%.
The problem is that if a few are seen to be flouting the guidelines it encourages other to follow suit and your 95% quickly becomes 50%

This is what happens if you let the virus spreading. 10 times more infected on the streets? 10 times the chance that somehow it breaches the barrier. Doesn't Norway and Finland have care homes??
They have, but most likely they have been more successful in protecting this vulnerable group. There may also be structural differences in how the care is organized, how many different people the staff see per week, whether they can afford to stay home if they have a sour throat etc...many unknowns that will take time to find out.
As I pointed out above: It is far from clear if this failure to protect the old has anything to do with general level of social distancing in society.

As you say time will tell, but I would personally rather be in a country where the deaths are falling than be in one where they are still rising, I think Sweden had a record number of deaths reported two days ago and it wasn't far off yesterday
In other words, then number of deaths there is falling ...

Actually, the pattern of reported deaths there is very odd because it plummets every weekend. Which leads me to suspect that the figures are for when deaths are registered, not when they happen.

I don't mean that 95% of people behave, I mean that if we all get a little bit of time to leave the house for non-essential purposes the whole experience is likely to be a lot more tolerable and therefore observed than if we went all Spain.

Agree, as to deaths in care homes it seems common in much of Europe, the latest figures for the UK showed 40% of coronavirus deaths were in care homes in the first two weeks in April
The issue Sweden has is that they have many times the number as a proportion of their population infected and dying from coronavirus than neighbouring countries. That proportion infected also includes care home staff, who having been out and about socialising when not at work, then return to the care homes where there are a lot of fragile, older people who are vulnerable to the virus

Do you actually know this or are you just speculating?

If I may do the same, I find it far more likely that the virus, once inside the care home, is spreading from one elderly to another, possibly with a staff member as an intermediate. This could be an explanation to the death toll in this group.

The 'proportion of the population infected' is largely unknown, in Sweden as in most other countries.
Even if it was known, it would be irrelevant, as the high death numbers in care homes is confined to the Stockholm area, to a large extent.

Sweden has had a somewhat different approach to regulations compared to neighboring countries and the death toll from Corona is indeed higher. I can see the temptation in assuming the first must have led to the second, but doing so is simply simplistic. All IMHO.

This is not the forum to discuss it but the issue is that:
Sweden is, at present, working on an alternative model to a number of other countries, it is arguably more far sighted.
That every country poses a different set of circumstances.
And that the figures are, just now, an unreliable base for anything other than crass conclusions.

As BabaYage has said we should know in the end

Or arguably very short sighted, as you say we should know in the end

I was told down the marina. That a berth holder tried to leave Portsmouth harbour and the mod police gave them a £200 on the spot fine

You’ve just got to sneak out quickly (or else have the “I’m a delivery skipper” defence ready to deploy)!

Allotment near me is full of people right now! And there is a note at the gate just asking members to stay away minimum two meters from each other. Few of them came by car, I guess adits at least five cars parked inside.
I just wish, I can go and do some maintenance work on my boat on her swinging mooring!
Probably safer, less socialising and less risky than working with other people in allotment.;)
Any ideas when will be able to go and check our vessels?

See, this is exactly the problem. You see people going to the allotment, so you want to go to your boat. People see you going to your boat, so they want to go kick a ball around. People see people kicking a ball around, so they want to go to the gym. People see people in the gym and they want to go to the pub...
Other stupid people breaking the rules is not a reason to break the rules or to be stupid.

Gyms , pubs and restaurants, theatres , any mass gatherings have been told to close , Marinas have been asked to close their is a big difference, I can see them opening sooner rather than later , and the chances of infecting anyone are nil , the chances of catching it who knows but I will wash my hands regularly and not stick my fingers up my nose or in my mouth until clean , and if I avoid people the chances of catching the virus are negligible

And of course you will not be touching any objects whose use you share with other berth holders...

No, I can’t think of any communal object I “need” to touch to go to my boat. The gate to the pontoon opens automatically when I swipe a key fob across the pad.

So some one who takes their caravan to a nice secluded spot/caravan park (maybe in Scotland) , brings their food with them and keeps themselves to themselves, says the infection transfer is nil, should be able to do it as well

The issue is a lot of people can make a special case for themslves, it's when half the population does it that the issues start

Big J there is a world of difference between a boat and caravan that have been flogged to death on here, mainly caravans need to be in parks right next to another caravan those using caravans tend to stay in sites take a fee days fro their journeys ,might have to fuel up more than once use the store on the site and then woder about the local area ,
Me I can find plenty of places in my boat were the only company is sheep , I can maintain this for weeks as I will take my food from my house that I have stored for the Armageddon , and I can be at piece away from the news , the virus and all you lot . my car is already fuelled no need to get any ,
Nae you say others will be there too, Nay I say 3 weeks last year and never anchored near a soul , I like my solitude, if others cannot do solitude do not go. for those that can act responsibly let us begone
