The trouble is that the current situation breeds strong feelings and judgements about what others are doing. The Govt haven’t helped with inconsistency - lots of perfectly safe activities prevented but going to a DIY stores okay, and of course they caved in to the Angling Trust and allowed fishing. Chuck in media coverage that has created the impression that there is significant non-compliance and people are anxious about what others are doing in what is a very serious situation.
Interestingly, whilst I think there is an issue with too many having to go to work when they could work from home studies by ONS and a psychology unit that informs Govt indicate that compliance with the rules and guidance is actually quite good.
Back to boating - if people can go to their local boats and have no contact with others then risks are low and whilst criticism is perhaps understandable it isn’t necessarily valid IMHO. If it is safe then the seriousness of the pandemic doesn’t alone doesn’t make it unsafe.....if that makes sense ?
