Loch Melfort

It's a stunning area Richard. I've spent many very happy times exploring around the Islands and Highlands in years past.

Are you considering the Caledonian up to Inverness? I can highly recommend that trip having done it several times in the past. There really is something very therapeutic about gently cruising through such stunning scenery.

Indeed we are Andy. We have done it once before but aeons ago in 2000! It was one of our best boating memories. We have been up here quite a few times over the years and there is so much choice of great places to visit if the weather allows. We hope to manage a few things we haven't done before, specifically the Outer Hebrides if at all possible and SWMBO concurs of course.

Shh, don't tell everyone :D. My home berth is just around the corner outside of the loch.
Oops sorry!
Anyway most the time it pisses down
Midges bight
Locals? Speak funny can’t understand them
Won’t go there in the Haggis hunting season
Blokes wearing skirts and ginger beards will mow you down
Then there is always that bloody porridge for breakfast and those fish Arbroath thinghie
Disgusting people
You try and get some decent ‘ beluga’ for breakfast
No chance
On second thoughts
Not for Civilised people really
Will post on Trip Advisor as well
Hope that helps

Just so you all know there are some great anchorages elsewhere than in the Med. :) This is the view we woke up to yesterday morning after a nice dinner the night before in the local hostlery. The second photo is the approach to the mooring.

Oh, that’s superb! I’ve stayed in the holiday let directly behind you over Xmas a few years back... (terrible mattress...). And on the mooring there as well.

You must get around to Piulladobraihn anchorage.... and squeeze into Ardinamir as well.... the leave the CCC mark to stbd very close...

But you can easily get ashore at Piulladobraihn then walk over the hill (there’s a path... the cows can be a bit mean looking but they are fine...) to the pub at the bridge over the Atlantic...

ps did you get a glimpse of the white-tailed sea eagles on Scarba on you way north - they were there last week?
