Just spent a great week touring Scotland with SWMBO.Took a Loch Lomond boat sight seeing trip out of Balloch and was surprised by the state of the boats there. All seemed totally uncared for and there were several yacht masts sticking up out of the warer.I couldn't see what type of yachts they were but the standing rigging on at least one seemed in good condition.I was wondering how they sank and is there no incentive to raise them.Do you pay mooring fees on the Loch?Cant imagine anyone paying annually for a boat they cannot use. Peter.

I think the river at Balloch is where old boats go to die. If you had gone round to Cameron House Marina you would have seen where all the money is

Hi Ashley,I must agree with you about Balloch. What with the Chinese restaurant food poisoning and the death of a young local lad who was "bombing" from the bridge (whatever bombing is) it did not leave a very good impression. It is really beautiful up your end, Ardlui I must admit. We could only fit in the one hour boat trip which went up past DB,Cameron House then back down the sise of some privately owned island with a couple of 26' ish yachts moored there.Regards, Peter.
