We have a two year old Livol Watermaker currently on our boat in Greece and we are looking for spares and chemicals. Livol has gone out of business as has the UK agent 'On Board Power'. The agent in Greece, 'Eurobat' no longer stocks Livol spares. Has anyone else encountered this problem and, if so, have they found a solution?

Chemicals are not a problem, they are the same for all watermakers, or approximately. Spares might be, what are you looking for, been sourcing watermaker parts just lately and most if not all are proprietry makes. Most watermaker, makers, just buy the parts/pipework and assemble them on there own backplates etc. So are available

ccscott49 is right - they mostly use standard parts. Cleaning chemical is sodium bisulphite. I have a suspicion (hope I'm wrong) that the Livol uses a hydraulic amplifier - like a few other models - and thus may have a non-standard pump.

has a lovely step by step guide to building your own watermaker which may help demystify the beast for you. It took me a year of acquaintance to realise that it's really just a collection of easily understandable components.

"The Livol we have does have a Hydraulic Amplifier, Jeremy, but I guess this should make no difference to the chemicals required."

No, the main thing is not to use a chlorine based agent, which trashes the membranes.
