Online quote from Preston is indeed nearly half what we'd pay in Liverpool. I hadn't realised it'd be that big a difference. It is food for thought. Google currently saying 1hr15mins drive from here. Been doing the same to N Wales for the past year, but with the boat very affordably on a club hard.

I don't know the narrowboat rates per meter but I do know its significantly lower than what I'm paying , it's not quite half but near enough 35-40% less than my meter rate.

They work on the the premace that they aren't going to be using the lock.

If you use the lock in Brunswick it can be up to £100 per lock in and out if its just the one boat.

We are planning to bring our boat to Liverpool in the spring so appreciate the additional insight and updates from this thread - although reading them with some trepidation also!
