Just received the following:

We want to keep you informed about some important changes happening across the lithium market, and what this means for pricing in the coming months.

Over the past few years, lithium prices have been falling steadily. This helped stabilise battery costs and, in many cases, allowed prices to improve. Wherever possible, we always passed those reductions on to you.

However, this trend is now reversing.

Lithium costs are rising again, and at the same time, changes in Chinese export policy are reducing the rebates manufacturers previously received. These rebates had helped support lower export pricing, so their reduction is now increasing overall costs.

At the same time, raw material costs are increasing. When these two factors combine, there is very little room for manufacturers to absorb the difference. As a result, we are now seeing higher cell pricing coming through from suppliers, which will begin to impact finished products.

Shipping and logistics are also becoming less predictable too. While not the primary driver, fluctuations in freight costs are adding significant pressure to overall pricing.

Rising popularity, Chinese storage projects and masses of people suddenly realising energy is no longer guaranteed was bound to cause rising prices, simple supply and demand.
It's a shame, the dropping price was getting towards the point of making lead go completely out of fashion.

I wonder if the gulf situation, rising energy prices, and general concern about energy security also had an impact.

Nationalism is an embarrassment most countries show on occasion. A glimpse into the average human soul. It's scary when it is a large country.

Oh dear, they were showing stock yesterday, but not now. I did have 12 delivered last Friday.
I had 12 last week too - arrived overnight on Fed Ex too which is an improvement . But rather than store the big order for a couple of weeks before I could start it I foolishly left them.. Its a fun job, 60kwh 48 v batteries with 4 Victron 6K5 inverters

I'm now seeing Facebook adverts for energy storage systems- a shipping container full of batteries, plus a solar array. Zero mention of anything green or environmentally friendly. It's just about energy independence. How times change...
