Anyone read the MBM guide to the boatshow?

Down in the small print, the Jubilee Line is going to be closed the first weekend 10/11 january.

Well thats going to do the attendance figures a pile of good /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Yeah, but youre an ISSIX boy so on your doorstep, for country bumpkins like me, wouldnt kno where to start.

Always done Jubilee Line all the way and normally would go twice.

May not even bother once this time. If there are more lazy gits like me, could make for a quiet show...

We have had fires on the M25, light rail way closed, lime house link closed, major sporting events, high winds, snow, Jubilee line closed (no change there then) I hate Excel with a passion (the venue not the show) BUT in real terms its not that difficult to get to and folk still show up in their thousands....

We hate going to Excel with a vengence and public transport from the sticks is just not an option. We normaly go everyyear anyway but can't make our minds up this year whether to bother. Somehow looking over lots of boats I can't afford and pretending to be interested seems a bit immoral in the current climate.

Half a dozen of us will be going as usual. We like the venue, spacious and ideal for standing back and actually being able to admire the stuff bought to the show.
All in all a good day out.
Easy to drive to and if you avoid evening rush hour,to get out of.

From where I work (Terminal 5!) the easiest way would be fly to CDG and then get a flight to LCY....

SBS is a real pain to get to regards us Essex and Kent neer-do-wells but we will still make the effort to go again next year, its more a case of being a bit of a social event and a chance to meet up and argue with folks who you do not see very often.
Go to a restuarant and that secondhand boat thingy up the road to make the trip worthwhile.
There is normally me,East coast tightwad and mudcrawler),Charles at Bray(Thames...ite) plus a couple of misguided souls with far to much money who are in thrall to sports boats. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gifalong with some folks with really big stuff down in the other "Med".
What really bothers me is coming up with a new excuse to leave early before the bar bill arrives.
