Discovered today that my dinghy has been stolen off the stern cabin roof of the boat.

When I was driving home from work yesterday something didnt look quite right with the boat, today I could see that the dinghy was missing.
It is a Honda 2.5M inflattable with an aluminium floor. This has a dent where I dropped the outboard ,skeg down, one day.
This was taken from Laleham Reach on Monday night/Tuesday morning.
The B----stds have started early this year.
The boat was taken out through the road side of the mooring not by river, suspect the angling fraternity want to use it on a gravel pit somewhere.

Still it will not be much use with no oars or thwart.
We will have to put up with this until LAW & ORDER returns to this once great country

So sorry to hear of your loss. I'm afraid we've seen the last of law and order. It's too expensive to build prisons and cheaper to let the villains do what they want. Although why we can't make the prisoners build their own jails escapes me. There must be everything from Architects to Hod Carriers inside. Give them the where with all and let the get on with it.

someone with an angle grinder had a go at the security bolts on the outboard on my dory last week - moored on the drive. Why they didn't cut the wheel clamp and tow the rig away beats me, but it was a lucky escape. Same "catchment" as Bulto.

there's been a fair few undesirables visiting a house down the lane which may or may not be related

Hi, A guy I know is a major player in parts supply to the power sports trade. His delivery van and premises have been done several times,as has his home garage. Some while ago-early 2010-he saw two guys in his garage at the end of his garden loading his expensive mountain bike, tools, a motorbike and other goodies into a van. He called 999 only to be told that as he and his wife were in no danger the Police were too busy to come immediatly. He put the phone down and redialled straight away. "Dont bother about those two guys robbing my garage-I've shot 'em. Two mins. later the road was alive with Old Bill and armed response teams and the bad boys were nicked in the act. The main Plod said" I thought you said you had shot 'em!. My mate said "And I thought you said you were too busy! Plod had the grace to say "Touche".

That joke was old when god was a boy.

Hi Bulto (and Rob). One of the guys at PH is forming a local community of boat crime watching. Might be worth dropping down to the Marina for a chat....

I'll catch up with you on that at the weekend; having been a "victim" last year and also of a recent attempt, I am a bit fed up with the boat pi... thieves

My bro tells me that last week a boat came up to Temple lock at 0400, they took another boat off the island, down through the lock, and disappeared with both, apparently to a slip some where down the river.
We keep losing fishing gear, usually hydraulic haulers. What is needed is a website where everyone can go straight away to post details, but how to get folk to look at it? Needs some sort of popup on this site, or any relevant one.

Yerbut...you only go to it when you have a vested interest. We need to get waterside people all over to have a regular look then keep their eyes peeled. One fisherman did have some success, he posted straight away on the fishing site, got a response, took the plod round to show them his gear, a standard production winch that he could identify, they said it wasn't proof enough. I see the site has a mailing list facility, if there was some incentive to get people to join that list...

John, Laleham Gold Club, Berkeley Homes and Penton Hook all use CCTV and the Marina (Covering Mixnams Lane entrance) I think have ANPR. If the marina at least are serious about boat crime, get them to put their money where their mouth is and allow you access to their recordings!

Good luck.
