Clueless MPs

Agreed that your average MP neither knows nor cares about boats, but there must be some who are keen sailors and/or who have constituents whose jobs depend on the industry. They won't necessarily be waterside constituencies, either. F'rexample, who is the Right Hon. member for Sealine?

Shouldn't we be putting our energies into identifying these people and lobbying them, so that we will get a sympathetic hearing, rather than cursing about MPs as a generic breed? Of course they are generally stupid, venal, greedy etc. or they'd never have gone into politics. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Doh!

He could have said that better...

Owners of craft exceeding eight metres (26.5ft) would need to contribute towards "light dues"...

The Royal Yachting Association's cruising manager, Stephen Johnson, said "There is this myth that all yacht owners are affluent. There are many, many small families who just enjoy poking around in a 22ft yacht..."

I got stung for £3.50 for 'using' Chichester Harbour on Saturday. This is conservency as opposed to mooring or anchoring fees. I really did not mind this in exchange for visiting such a lovely spot.

However I get the feeling that our costs are about to get out of hand as it seems to me that unless you say in your home berth someone will rob your wallet the moment you stop elsewhere (or whats left of it after the marina people have enjoyed a fair sized chunk).

Ggrrrrrrr........
