The cost of anti foul in France is akin to being legally mugged.
Does anyone know if there is a lot of difference in the cost of anti foul in Spain?
Is there much difference in the price of being hauled out in France or Spain?
I am trying to work out if it is more economical to get lifted in France and anti foul or do it when I get to Spain.

That goes for Portugal too........I thought the price included the lift out and somebody to apply it as well................Volvo 15-40 Diesel oil was the same, UK £27. Portugal 78Euros

Fortunately we took 2 gal of anti foul with us from UK.............A man and van could make a tidy profit and still undercut the locals.

So - pop into Gib, buy antifoul, nip back to Algeciras and get lifted, slap a/f on then poodle off into the sunset

simples, after you've left La Rochelle that is :)

The alternative it to Fly to the Uk as flights from here are 7 pounds. Buy the anti foul, flyback, and sail to Spain to get it lifted. n fact that works out cheaper than getting the stuff delivered.
Then again I could sail back to the UK, get it anti fouledand then sail back here, with anti foul for next year.
I should imagine anyone with a car in a place where there are an enclave of liveaboards could make themselves an tidy profit.
There is always an answer.

I think you'll find that antifoul and other solvent-based paint is specifically banned from hold luggage.
Whilst you might get away with it...

I know and have seen. There is no chance.
Truble is anti foul here is 160 euro for 2.5L and in the UK the same product is 60 pounds. If the euro crashes it may help.

Here in Spain the price depends very much on the brand -- some brands are very, very, eye-wateringly expensive, because they come from afar.

Try the fisherman's coop in La Pallice, they are usually much cheaper than the chandlers.

I switched this year from Hempels to International because of the price difference: more than 2:1 !!!!

A mate of mine had his 32 footer hoisted out and anti foulded and he remarked that it was as cheap as him buying the anti fouling..that was a couple of years ago in the Rias.In general boating related stuff is expensive and its not possible to scrub off and paint yorself as they enforce the enviromental laws.....in benifit of local marinas.I was told by a local fisherman to go along to the shipyard and buy some antifoul. Its the type thats banned for small boats but is used on ships(TBT)this in a region that has a huge shellfish industry!
