Lift on a 2hp 1984 Mariner 2M 6A1?

Hi,

I've inherited a Mariner 2M 6A1 1984 2hp outboard which I'm restoring, it's a relic and seen better days.

I'm not overly familiar with this outboard and whilst I can lift it, it doesn't stay in the horizontal position, there doesn't appear to be any hook/lever system like you would get on a Seagull?

I'm not sure if something is missing, or it's just the design which seems unlikely? Pics below. Thanks.

The later ones have a pin in the clamp that pushes in to lock in the up position. Perhaps the earlier ones were not fitted with the pin.

Yeah thanks and I definitely don't have the pin. Wonder if they never had the option on the earlier ones?

Will have to work out how to attach it to the dinghy without it dragging

Simply lift it up and put a piece of wood under it, most people do this when towing as an extra bit of security.

Tighten the nut on the pivot bolt until it will just stay in the fully raised position
