Liferaft service costs....

Crikey, that doesn't look nice. Wonder if they had any wooden bungs, or even a carrot. Better check if ours are still there; doh, I forgot we're not allowed to go to our boat...

£300.00 very basic liferaft service inc collection and return.

Did attempt to work out how much bouyancy £300 in folded pound notes or 4 square inches of plastic would provide but decided on relection that it was not enough to keep me afloat.

That's a rather improbable scenario; nobody in their right mind is going to pay for yearly servicing! Just buy a new one immediately before its first annual service is needed.
My point exactly, “over its 18 year life” so cheaper to buy a new one. Typical marketing trick, they make you anxious by publishing their version of servicing intervals, there is no legislation applying to us as to servicing intervals. Also interesting, all the chatter I’ve seen about LR seems to highlight that the fabric remains in good condition. The one I bought and pulled apart, 2007 manufacture, it was pristine.

Manufacturers of safety equipment usually run training courses before they deem someone as qualified to service their products so may well have a case that an unapproved service centre doesn't have sufficient training and certainly won't have knowledge of any necessary modifications or warranty recalls.

Like ability to re-pack into original case? That strikes me as the 13th strike of the clock...

Mike.
