Sorry to hear that , what made you stay for so long? You were a volunteer so free to go.
I thought Spurn was always full time employed rather than volunteer, due to the location. The option to resign is still there.

Aha I see. I'm fairly sure 99% of the public, including me, believed all seagoing crew are volunteers except the mechanics. Interesting.I thought Spurn was always full time employed rather than volunteer, due to the location. The option to resign is still there.
I’m interested to know if there’s many fellow lifeboat crew here and where from?
To hopefully start the ball rolling, I’m a trainee coxswain at RNLI St. Helier on the station’s Tamar ALB.

That’s a real shame. Our current staff cox was at Spurn for many years, couldn’t have asked for better tutor.

He’s just about come to the end of his time with us now, providing cover at a few other stations and I think will soon have a key role in the Severn life extension programMartin, if he is cox now was excellent...

As well as a small number of paid fleet staff that travel around providing cover where needed.RNLI also have full-timers on the River Thames boats.

For the last nearly 2 years, we’ve been really busy, training and exercising and building the new crew’s competency and experience. Between our inshore and all weather boats, we’ve carried out I think nearly 60 shouts and over 250 exercises this year alone. Is that going reasonably harmoniously after the well-publicised problems?
Edited to add I believe the RNLI have closed stations as they believe neighboring ones can reach the area within an acceptable time span and maybe more suitable craft.
Sorry you had this experience. Not at Spurn, but joined a dysfunctional LB team for 2 years, glad to move somewhere different for the excuse to leave. Was at Spurn for 2 years. Most miserable time of my life - bullying and abuse by the Cox was unbelievable

All current proud serving lifeboat people, thanks, I know it's not all fun and laughter.
