I’m interested to know if there’s many fellow lifeboat crew here and where from?

To hopefully start the ball rolling, I’m a trainee coxswain at RNLI St. Helier on the station’s Tamar ALB.

I was almost too old and needing glasses last time I volunteered for local Station. Aldeburgh Suffolk.
Have been neighbours and friends with most of the crew for 40 years now. The landlord of my local is Second Cox on the boat and Relief Cox on the Seahouses Station. A very dedicated bunch of men and women.
We have a Mersey class all-weather lifeboat and a D-class inshore. Awaiting a new type but the building (shed) needs modification.
Its worth a look at the website to see the building and the launching conditions.
Its very reassuring knowing these people, they are very keen in all sorts of terrible conditions.

Was on the crew at Selsey, both boats, Tyne and D-Class but that was 30 odd years ago, good luck with your training, sure you will enjoy it

I've offered to be crew on the Severn class at Yarmouth but they have a full crew and don't need anymore crew.
If you’re really keen, they probably have a waiting list you can go on. Keep your face known by getting involved with the local fundraisers etc. It’s a fantastic thing to be a part of and you learn so much.

Crew member at an independent station (Maritime Rescue International, Stonehaven) for some years. It was a training base for offshore survival and several European countries sent their lifeboat crews there for training as well. Then did a couple of stints in Uganda as instructor with National Lake Rescue Institute. Uganda has no coastline but is bordered by the Nile and some of the world's biggest lakes, drowning was the second commonest form or premature death there, after malaria.
