Life jacket recommendations

I would not use a "back tow" feature. If you do go overboard and are towed on your back yes you will survive but there is no way yu will be able to get back to the boat if it continues sailing. Far better a front attach on a lifeline that will not allow you to go over the side. (keep it short). I have tried my harness front attach while the little boat was sailing at say 5 knots. My drag slowed it down to perhaps 4 knots. I certainly would drown pretty quickly with being dragged face first. I did mange to roll onto my back by holding the line but no I could not get back on the boat. It was only a test so crew stopped and I got back on. Certainly there is no joy being towed behind a boat by front or back attach. ol'will

We will all agree that lifelines should be kept so short that it is impossible to go over the side.

If I said I always did so, I would be fibbing. And I doubt if I am alone...:)

It’s certainly possible to go OB and for nobody in the cockpit to notice for a while.

I'm thinking of replacing my guests' (which are fine, regularly serviced but a bit bulky and with some mildew)

Does anyone have any experience of them? .

I have had quite a few guests like that, but tend to put them off now if I can.
The mildew is bad enough (have you seen my Mother In Law??:ambivalence:) but it is the " bulky", that I find difficult to stomach

Seago Active Pro from Marine superstore has built in sprayhood and light £89.99

Seago Active Pro, I bought 2 in April from Duncan's in Glasgow, very comfortable a reasonable price and scored well in tests and reviews.

We've got these too, and looking at the spec of the Seago Dynamic in the link the OP provided, the only difference is the 3D fit. Ours are pretty comfortable, and I think the 3D would have to pretty special to justify that much extra cash. Maybe we're 2D people?

Another recommend for Seago Active Pro. They are very comfortable and we'll spec'd for the price. I like two crutch straps and the harness point central. We just bought 4x plus two of the child equivalents.

I have unpacked it and manually inflated; all seems satisfactory.

I am not sure you can entirely escape the fact that it might not be jolly comfortable if inflated by gas, suddenly, with all your layers on.
