Isn't that a type of fizzy drink?

Probably move off from Fortaleza within the next two weeks and slowly make my way to Tobago

You need to stay in Brasil until you can spell it like the locals......
I enjoyed my year there immensely. Keep it going, my envy is fuelling the escape plot and the tunnel to the mooring.

Hi John,

if you have a couple of days to spare, hop to Jericoacoara (better by bus, there are some shoals around), a wonderful beach a few hours ride north of Fortaleza
I can assure you will adore that place

best luck

I'd agree with Roberto, the anchorage is extremely iffy. Does the marina still consist of large metal boxes held together with chains? Liz nearly lost a leg when she slipped between them when they were rocking around.

En route to Tobago, call into Isle du Salut, if you have the chance. Definitely the best place we stopped at in a year's Atlantic circuit. You should get there mega quick, the northbound current between Fortelaza and there goes at 4 knots.

One word of warning as you are single handing it. There are a large number of small fishing boats dotted between the shore and up to 50 miles off. They are small and wooden and so don't show up on radar. They also anchor up in the middle of nowhere with what looks like a nightlight as an anchor light. We nearly hit a couple and that was with a constant watch.

Best of luck on your future travels. I'm extremely envious, Fortaleza is a great place.
