Lidl Ropes....No UV resistance

I bought some from either Aldi or Lidl and it was useless. In tight knots or when strecthed over a cleat the inner bunched up and twisted inside the outer shell to form a lump .

To be honest some of the shock cord I have had from chandlers has also performed like chinese monkey muck. I now make sure this comes off an English Braids reel.

Wouldn't the paper go soggy in the rain and make them unsuitable even for decorative purposes. Or maybe they're only for indoors decorative purposes. :)
Would ylu use B & Q chain from the same aisle for anchor chain.?

Most of the strength of our sheets and halliards is in the core. The DIY braidline rope has NO core. You get what you pay for so use accordingly.

No core? I think you are being a bit harsh.
The ropes from Lidl and the like, make no pretence about being for climbing or for major load bearing practices. Neither does B&Q sell their chain as anchor chain.
You buy rope to suit the activity you intend to use it for. Why spend mega money on high spec rope if its for everyday general use. If you do, you are wasting your money. Feel free to carry on doing that if it is what you feel you have to do.
The rope I bought from Lidl last week was for lazyjacks. I'm not going to die if it breaks tomorrow. I bought it because it was cheap and it was polyester and it will do the job.
Oh by the way, most braid rope you will buy from the chandlers as expensive "yachtee" rope is also a polyester exterior. Lazyjacks are a low load static application and as such do not need hi tech cores etc etc.
In answer to your question, I would not use chain from B&Q for my anchor chain. I would buy the correct material spec for the task.

Unfortunalety many people seeing these ropes assume they are possibly a little inferior to those sold elswhere and DO use themfor load bearing pplications and left to mature in what sunlight we have. Some of them can look authentic.
I keep a length of one of these products in the car to demonstrate how it has no place on a boat where it could inadvertantly be used for a load bearing application with disastrous results.
