They have been sold before, so if anyone here has one, is it any good?

Love my Bosch multi tool! As others have said, it only comes out of its box twice a year, but when it does, no other tool would get close to doing the same job.

Cutting GRP virtually eliminated the teeth on my 'wood' cutting blade in less than 10 minutes, but cut so perfectly that I could apply gel coat with no further preparation. As mentioned previously, I am forever retightening the screw that holds the blade on. The blades are expensive. From the picture, looks like you have circa £20 worth of blades in the Lidl kit (depending on quality)

I got unbelievabley lucky .... looked on Amazon one day and there it was at £37.99 post free

That type of tool is rarely used but absolutely invaluable when you do. I have a £300 one.

Would the lidl one do? Our air sanders are usually about £200. I bought 2 in lidl for £35. A de vilbis one is currently being repaired. Lidl ones not missed a beat.

Lidl multi tool

It is currently on sale here in Belfast at £34.99 yet advertised in the rest of UK for next week at £29.99................

Funny you should mention that, a few weeks ago I looked at a belt sander and checked the price on the web. the same sander was advertised in lidl ie (the Republic of Ireland about 10 miles away) for the same figure but in Euros.
Are we being ripped off over here? Me thinks YES!

I bought a similar machine from Aldi a couple of years ago (they're all based on the top dog Fein Multimaster) and I love it! It's got me out of so many difficult situations; sawing in impossible places (I do a lot of that on my gaffer restoration), plunge sawing to make a square hole, just two examples. The blades can be quite expensive but are available on eBay(of course!) and can be ground to make them smaller if necessary.
Buy it!

A lot of these machines are copies of originals probably emanating from China.

As a tradesman using power tools on a daily basis I was always sceptical about "cheap tools" preferring to rely on Makita, Bosch et al.

I popped into our local tool store to buy a diamond cutting blade for a 4"grinder, the assistant suggested that rather than pay £25 for a blade he could give me a new grinder and 2 diamond blades for £23.

That was two years ago and it still works perfectly, I am now of the opinion that the quality of these "cheap tools" have improved dramatically in the last 5 years to a point that they can hold their own against the brands.

Having said that you do still need to watch what you are buying, Lidls, Aldi do have some tat as well as good tools, another good buy from Lidls was the hole cutting sets for £10, still in constant use after 5 years.

On sale from today - 6 still left in the Shirley, Southampton branch at 8:45am.

The last couple of times that these have been on sale, they were all gone by 11:00 - so I made the effort to get up early to get one! Can't complain at the price.

Also managed to find one on my way in to work. There was a builder's van parked outside the shop, and the owner was ahead of me in the queue, buying two of them - got to be a good vote of confidence...

I had one of those "circular" discussions with a carpenter from work. He was a confirmed Makita man, but was persuaded to try an Aldi drill as they were so cheap.
He was convinced it wouldn't last so bought two, thinking that when the first one died he could get a new one under warranty but still have one in reserve.
He then complained that it was still going strong after two years, so the second one was a waste of money!

Just bought one - lots up here for sale in my local store.

It will now join the Lidl (Parkside) belt sander, palm orbital sander, dremel lookalike multitool, power scraper and also several items from Aldi all of which are going still going strong after lots of heavy DIY use. As others have said, great for those odd occasions when they are just what you need.
