Your link does't work for me, but if it's the tool I think it is, then yes, got one, love it :)

Highly recommended for cutting openings in fibreglass, making channels in plaster, and many other uses. I don't need mine all that often, but when I do need it, nothing else will do.

The blades it comes with aren't fantastic, but others are available.

Link worked for me ok.
One of the specials on 6th Feb.

I might be tempted by the bench grinder. although no cheaper than a Silverline one from Toolstation

I paid a lot more for the Worx Sonic version of the same thing. If I had seen the Lidle one I would have gone for it.
The cutter attachments are very useful. I had to enlarge bulkhead holes for cables in a confined space and the tool allowed a very precise cut with no danger to the cable insulation.
The only downside is that replacement accessories have to be bought on-line. B&Q who sell the Worx don't sell the bits and pieces and the Fein ones don't fit.
I suspect it will be the same for the Lidl version.

Can't be certain about the one currently on sale, but the older Lidl machine I have would accept blades from B&Q and (according to another forum) the Fein ones if you're feeling posh. I imagine the current one will be the same.

That dangerous to use then! :p

:)

Actually very safe to use. I'm told that you can press the saw blade to your skin and it won't hurt, because it just vibrates a very small distance backwards and forwards and your skin can move with it. It only cuts rigid materials. Apparently they use very similar machines to saw through plaster casts without cutting the patient.

Haven't had the nerve to try it :)

I've never used one of these tools, but are they good for getting old antifouling off?

I don't know; I've only used the saw attachments (narrow, half-round, and masonry) on mine, not the scraper. Bearing in mind that it will vibrate the scraper from side to side instead of backwards and forwards, I have to wonder how effective it will be.

I have used the Bosch equivalent to this for fine cutting wood and opening up previously glued wood joints on a teak capping rail, the smoothest and most accurate cut I ever made.
I also used the blade to clean up and skim the previously glued teak joints very much in a scraping type action as you may do with a sharp wood chisel and it worked very well, didn't need to use a chisel or even sand it afterwards before remaking the joint.
I have some anti-foul to remove this April and I have no doubt in my mind that it will do this very well. I will have to buy some dedicated scraper blades for this.

I bought the Bosch version in B&Q last year. Needed to cut a hole in the floor boards in my Mum's house to gain access to the sub-floor area but then re-lay them as a floor - so had to cut down just as far as the joists below. It worked a treat, with little damage to the floor. Only issue was the blades can work a bit loose; re-tightened using the Allen Key supplied.
Still did a bit of damage though - £90 I think! House sold a month later for the full home report value, having gone to a closing date :)

I cant imagine so, but it would work well in cutting a hole through the hull !
I think a/foul removal really depends on age and type of a/f. I found 5 years of hard a/f was very easy with an electric chisel, but whether a cheapo one will last a whole boat, I dont know...I did most with a £7 wallpaper scraper which was pretty easy (B+Q, Wickes etc)

Some time ago I think Lidl had electric scrapers, which people said were good for removing antifoul.

I just noted the mini tools, which are actually a useful little set, but I bought mine at £2.99, and they are now £5.99! so not much of a bargain now.

Personally I have more faith in an electric chisel.

I made a post earlier that doesn't seem to have arrived. It said roughly:

Agree but do you kno where to get one? The recommended Bosch one seems to have been obsoleted and neither Lidl nor Aldi has offered one for at least a year. This one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BOSCH-SKI...erTools_SM&hash=item5ae4c54f1b#ht_2123wt_1139 is quite expensive and no carbide blades offered. The seller can't tell me if Bosch blades will fit although this is made by a Bosch subsidiary in the USA?
Do you know of anything else?

The blades supplied with the Parkside Multi-Use tool coming up in LIDL look identical to those supplied by Bosch dealers for their similar tool. Funnily enough, the tools are also close to identical - I wonder if they come from the same factory?
