This might be of interest. National LIDAR Programme - data.gov.uk
"The Environment Agency National LIDAR Programme aims to provide accurate elevation data at 1m spatial resolution for all of England by 2021. "
This gives access to raw LIDAR datasets - not super-appreciable as they stand, but someone interested in the affects of flooding on house prices (I think!) has used the data to derive actual LIDAR maps of riverside, estuarial and coastal areas.
open lidar data from from the Environment Agency and Natural Resources Wales | hpio lab | houseprices.io
The maps are thus only partial - but they cover most areas of interest to coastal sailors, and are scrollable and zoomable. See for example the Cowes area here:
LIDAR Map of England and Wales, built with UK open data
and East Head, Chichester Harbour:
LIDAR Map of England and Wales, built with UK open data
Enjoy!

There was a comprehensive LIDAR survey of England and Wales about 15-20 years ago, if my memory serves me; the insurance industry backed it, but the data were widely available. The existing flood plain maps are derived from that, and the data have been freely available within the academic community for about the same length of time. It certainly took place many years before I retired in 2011. I only had a peripheral interest - I worked on Antarctica, and the Uk was only of interest as a test-bed for techniques!
