LIBS Today

Mr W, whilst if memory serves we found this very amusing at the time, the sad fact is, it is true, and on your other point if memory serves Town Quay was full. I have been in sales for 20 years + and very successful compared to others in my industry, and one thing i have learnt is that looks can be deceptive, and i would struggle to tell a wealthy person from a tyre kicker, even after chatting to them…

On a positive, i have been very impressed with EBY and if must be Fairline themselves vetting not the sales people?

Invested in the show as a retailer for the first time. A good level of interest and some sales but, as advised by other retailers, many visitors just coming for details and information and then taking away prices. We want to participate and enjoy giving advice but obviously if the show does not give us a return we will not return.

Empty every time you past it? why may i ask do people post such nonsense? I dont understand what the definition of empty is why does everyone want to knock this show and our stand? our sales figures suggest it was NOT empty also i am there all day so know if it is. YES its not as busy as previous years but PLEASE stop this nonsense about saying our stand is empty as its nonsense. Yes this may sound harsh but if folk spoke the truth I would not need to be so defensive!

I went last Friday to the show and have to say that we enjoyed the day as a whole. I wanted to have the usual nose around on the boats that would be the next step up for us (about 30ft), look into getting the fake teak decking and she was also on the lookout for a coat.
I found the show felt as if it was alot quieter then last year, although this may have been down to the fact that there was alot more space in the walkways and between stands. You did notice that there was a few manufactures missing and that the ones that were there, weren't showing as many boats from their range (Broom only had the 2 boats)
Managed to get a good deal on a Henri lloyd coat (£25 of the asking price) and had a good look on most of the boats I wanted too without to much hassle from the sales staff.
So managed to do all that we set out to do, plus also managed to collect lots of printed material so could hopefully follow that side up for my work - that way feeling less guilty about missing a days work

It has to be said though, that we got in because of free tickets, managed to park close by for free and took our own lunch - If we didn't, I probably wouldn't have thought it was good value and worth going.

I'm going Wednesday, Richard are you doing coffee's or nice glasses of chilled Pinot? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I'll pop by and be sure to comment on your stand afterwards! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Im looking forward to going, its always a great day out, and a nice way to see the nautical greats that you seldom see on the Solent.

Cant wait.
Jas.

That was uncalled for....we passed your stand 6 times during day and average number of people on stand each time we passed was from memory 6-8 - is that what you call busy???

I was also there today....need I say more????

I'll expect the apology by PM!!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I was at LIBS Sunday, and we had a pretty good time. Got on most of the boats we wanted to, including some of the biggies.

The comments about snobby salespeople, I have never found it - the Fairline guys were trying to get the barriers removed, as the 'lets capture information' approach was'nt working and recognised Princess had got it right.

Whilst the show wasnt heaving, it was a good level of interest, and we enjoyed the Champagne they gave away on the Fairline stand - and anyone could have blagged their way into that drinks area!

Martin,

We had a great time on Saturday too..... and got great hospitality from all the stands we visited, especially Fairline, who incidentally, in the guise of Essex Boatyards, sent us complimentary tickets and looked after us quite royally...

Madam attacked the clothing stands in the North Hall with a vengeance, and I added another pair of deck-shoes to my collection.......left for the station tired and loaded with carriers, which made it a good day!!!

It was just a bit saddening to see the space that in previous years has been filled by the likes of Sealine, BMB, Doral etc etc....filled with tables and chairs....

Well we had a cracking time. Bit sad to see some spaces but that was no surprise. Hardly business as usual is it.

I even encouraged mate onto the Sunseekers. He was pretty anti moboats but had a great time. We had a Manahattan 70, or something like that, to ourselves. We were playing James Bond with my 5 year old son. Great stuff. People were v friendly. Did not even get time to visit the IPC stand. Great day out saw loads bought sod all. Cant beat it. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
