Lewmar windlass V3 brushes?

Does anyone know if it is possible to replace the brushes on a Lewmar 12volts electric motor on a V3 Windlass?

Brushes aren't listed in Lewmars spare parts list, and the maintenance section just says blow the dust away.

I don't know your windlass specifically but the motor on mine looks suspiciously like a typical automotive starter motor. I would think that any auto-electric workshop would supply them or fit them for you.

Vyv, thanks for the reply, yes it may come to that, I was just hoping that there was a simple way to change them without taking the motor off the boat.

My simplistic thinking was that if someone had done it before and the brushes turned out to be readily available, I have a go at doing it myself.
