Dear All

My Lewmar windlass has gone very slow and grinds to a halt after a few revs - even going down under tension. The terminals are clean and voltage at the motor is fine. Please see picture below
1. How do I tell if its a V2 or V3 Lewmar ?

2. Where can i get a manual ?

3. Assuming its seizing up what is the method for getting it off and apart ??

4. Any other relevant advice and experience would be welcome

The serial number on the gear is 60000569SPA - V2/3NONFFGBOXRMU501/70

The most common causes of windlass problems include an absence of servicing, which should be annually.

Have you checked the oil in the gear box, can you turn the windlass manually.

Have got the windless off and apart. It was seized solid.
Got it off by making a puller using the 4 M8 screw holes in the bottom of the gearbox to pull it off the shaft ( from below after loosening the top M 8 nuts holding it up.
The top section was stuck down on a bed of sika flex. Pulled it out by tying the chute haliard round the drum and winching. Very tight but suddenly the top section came off and flew about 6 foot up. Fortunately it was tied on !
Looks like only seals and long studs needed. Anyone know the sizes??
