Sensible ? That's not what my wife thinks which is why she is currently in Edinburgh whilst I'm in Devon./forums/images/icons/smile.gif.. Nice trip to Fowey, Plymouth & Yealm today. Latter was packed this pm. Rafting between 3 & 5 deep on both sides of the first Vis.Pontoon. Fowey very quite/nice.
To return to the thread, I do not have to climb over anything to get to the bow, unless the crew are sleeping & as you say I've a lid, though the sunshine roof was open all day. Also my neck isn't strong enough to wear a medallion, thank god.
Sportsboats - pah - hairdressers tent boats !!!!!

Actually Fred you've got a point about the hassle of canopies on Sportscruisers. When I bought the
F36 over in March I removed the rear canopy which went all round the cockpit, and stowed in
Sealines rather clever space under the flybridge overhang. Havent had to put it up since,
mind you it has'nt rained yet.
A Fairline Targa 48 came in a week or so ago (see other thread) the owners are staying on board
and I have noticed that each day the canopy appears to be in a different state of erection, its
either part up or part down. I guess they put it up complete upon going to bed and in the
morning have to take part down but leave some up for shade from the sun.

There are guests (pupils) staying on the F36 each week and all they have to do when they go
to bed is slide the door shut, and when they wake up slide it open. They can then sit under
the flybridge overhang for shade or on the flybridge where the bimini cover is.
Very civilised and a lot less like camping.

Ah what a glorious feeling in the morning, with the birds twittering, the sun beating down over Plymouth, taking a cup of tea in hand, fag in mouth, and gracefully part the sliding doors, grinning profusely at the poor gits poking there heads out through the oil cloth...../forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Pubs, Pubs!! Didn't have time for those. Had to hang around for 20mins in order to fill up at QAB - it took 10 for someone to turn up at the pontoon to turn everything on. Much of the rest of the "spare" time spent poodling up the rivers Fowey & Yealm or flying off the short chop. The widely forecast 1 - 2m swell never appeared unfortunately. Pubs are where I collapse into after the trip, to lubricate my battered ankles and knees produced by the aforesaid flying.
Falmouth and back tomorrow perhaps calling in at Mevagissy or Looe on the way home - isn't life crap. Forecast is for HOT weather for the next few days. Which ale house do you recommend in Falmouth then, if I'm hurting when we get there ?
Sorry, this has nothing to do with the original thread. I'll just admit to having a Sporty, Practical Boat.

The King of Pursha is highly recomended. I stayed there once. ( Reported recently)
Must call off at Mr Newmans place up the Fall. Not when the tripies are there. Always good for a laugh.
Then theres the Pandora. But get in early. So you get the pontoon. W"e got the pontoon. Thats me and LJS. And quietly turned the whole raft round for them!! Loads of other places up the fall

Because - like a convertible car - they look cool ! :-)

And, yes, they cost a fortune in canopies... says he who's got a "replace the poxy canopy" on his winter to-do list!

Genuinely, tho - they tend to have much bigger cockpits so much more sociable when entertaining in good weather - which is when you're likely to be entertaining.

You old gits carry on with ur caravans... us young whippersnappers will pitch our tents whereever and whenever!

God does that feel good after all the arguments about Dad's CDs on board! :-)

If boxes stuck on a hull are so good why do you all insist on driving the things from the fly bridge. It seems your all just wanna be sports boat owners......

Can't say I have ever seen a fly bridge being driven from inside even in bad weather and with visibility almost as good as driving looking through a letter box it's no wonder your always up top.

Come own up - who actually drives their fly bridge boat from inside, and I mean for more than a couple of minutes.

I bet if your honest with yourself you all want a sports boat but swmbo wont let you have one because she likes the comfort of home complete with wedding photo's and flower arrangements.

I do. had a bit of a rainy trip from Eastborne so I came down stairs and helmed from there. Nice and warm, coffee on the stove etc .....

Question for you .... do you ever get wet in your sports boat? I've heard that those Sessa's are very wet boats and the screen is so small you can't have any covers up because you can't see out....
