Having looked at all sorts of RPM tachos and gear. I decided to go for a hand-held unit till I find a scrapper to get cable drive or alternator driven job.

Ebay and of course loads of Chinese offerings. So what to do ? Go for the UK based ones at 20... 30 quid a throw or risk a tenner incl. P&P ?

Risked the tenner and I duly rec'd an excellent bit of kit at half the price of EU located deal, that is most likely a rebadged version anyway.

Another person also bought one and he tested his across various items and it did exactly what it said it should.

So now I shall be fitting shiny markers to alternator pulley, crank pulley, prop shaft - to obtain real readings of what goes on with my old diesel donkey. And still have money in pocket !

I wish you wouldn't post up things like this........I don't need one, I have no use for it.............but on the other hand it is only £10, and PayPal makes it so easy, and I suppose I could check how fast my new drill is actually going..........and as my missus keeps telling me, "Look how much I've saved shopping today"....that's what I'm doing, I'm saving.... /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

But on this I've always played by ear having no tacho at all. Next is remote temp gauge ... now I have idea that dashboard jobs that do inside and outside temp can be used. Remote sensor on exhaust ... ?? Maybe a couple at only 3 - 4 quid a piece. One epoxied to block, 1 to exhaust ...
