Les Minquiers

Testing my photo editing skills you lot!
Thats a French Targa coming through the Gauliot at 2.7m (note the bow spotter ;) ) and that being the Petite Gauliot/Gouliot? beacon.

First time I've seen a froggie go through there, normally only used by a handful of locals.

Just come back from holiday and great to see the Minquiers back on the radar.

I'd be happy to guide anyone in next year. PM me in advance if you're passing by.

Happy New Year (if I'm still allowed to say that)

What a fantastic thread: great pictures of beautiful, rarely visited anchorages, useful pilotage information, and a real sense of camaradie and community.

What a nice change!

Seeing the article in MBY on Jersey and the offshore reefs and islands prompted me to search for this thread and start planning/dreaming of summer cruises to out of the way places, covid permitting, possibly Scilly for a few weeks or more and then over to Jersey and beyond later.

Looking at some of the stunning pics in this thread certainly brightens up a wet and windy March day in Devon.

Me too Longjohnsilver, we are currently berthed in Weymouth awaiting travel restrictions to ease to get boat back to its Jersey berth and let the fun start. A word of caution about pilotage around Les Minquiers, the sandbank to the west of Maitresse Ile moved considerably closer to the island last summer and even at half tide we where struggling for depth with a draft of 1.5 m in the navigable channel which runs north to south . Check latest notice to Mariners from Jersey Ports.
I don't think we will be landing in France anytime soon , Covid for one and secondly the fishing dispute brewing up between Jersey and France.

Cheers
Tetleys
