This is a really dull question, so apologies in advance!

The fuel filler cap on my Leisure 27 has been a b***er to remove for a while, this weekend it appears to have jammed completely. Part of the problem is that the slot into which you insert the key has become worn and you can't get a good grip on it. The cap is also engraved with 'WATER', which leads me to think that a previous owner replaced the cap at some point /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif , possibly for the same reason. The cap is a screw-threaded alloy type, I don't know how many types there are, I'm guessing hundreds!

The question is:
a) how do I open the thing without further damage (to it or myself!)
b) where might I find a suitable replacement (preferably labelled 'fuel'!)

Thanks in advance to anyone who has the patience to read this, or even better, an answer!

Cheers, Steve

To get it open, I suggest using a piece of wood and try tapping it at one edge of the slot.

If you get it open like this, a smear of grease on the threads should make it easier to screw/unscrew.

I dont know if you can buy the filler cap separately from the deck fitting - but they are commonly available

I it is a sowester filler then the caps are still available seperately - I bought one a few months ago from local swindelery to replace one that went for a swim. (It was ordered in so still made)

Mine is in a similar parlous state. during the last refit I had toemove the whole deck fitting and undo the cap from the bottom. I don't do it up tightly now and can open it with the heel of my hand. The o-ring seals it stopping fuel sloping out and actas as a brake to srop it vibrating open under way.
