I only read this book last year, about a year after seeing the tv program by the son of the skipper who had been lost overboard.
It was a good read, and while I believe I do understand why it took so long before he felt he felt able to discuss his history,he told this account with honesty, and did not seek to apportion blame.
I was left feeling the author had a strength of character I deeply admired.
Great read, recommend it for the Christmas list, keeps you genuinely on the edge of your seat even though we all know the outcome. Bit like the climbing book and film 'Touching the Void' wonder if they'll make a film?
He does come out well although it's understandable why everyone involved comes through mentally scarred.
