Hi

I've got one of those orange floating MOB lights that came as a set with a horseshoe float. You know, the one's that take a mortgage payments worth of D cell batteries?!

Anyway, I'm looking to change the light bulb to an LED one (that presumably would be brighter) but can only find torch bulbs, which inevitably project the light in one direction eg a beam of light, whereas what I need is a strong and bright all round light. Has anyone done this?

Yes

I re[laced the D cell batteries with a pack holding 8 AA cells to give 12 VDC and replaced the bulb with one of these

I've not checked but maybe Boatlamps have a direct LED replacement. Otherwise Roger's solution looks to be a good way forwards
