Leatherman Warranty

It might be excellent service, but with Leatherman prices you're paying for two or three tools and getting one! Perhaps

A few good companies make similar products (Gerber), but the prices aren't very different

sure - there are cheap versions - on amazon, for example, but I haven't actually used one.

Are they any good?

If you have a less expensive version that you think is just as good, post a link!

I don't think any of these pocket multi-tools are any good. They don't do anything well, an expensive toy.

but they do many things well enough....

I like the Leatherman Skeletool - it's pretty light and I often carry it when I might need to fix something and won't have access to a tool kit; ski touring, for example - I might have to fix a binding.

After 20+ years of fairly regular saling and walking use my much patched Tilley hat was looking rather tatty so thought I'd try the lifetime warranty.
Sent the old one off asking for a new one and the old one back for 'sentimental reasons'.
New and old turmed up a couple of weeks later.
Full marks to Tilley.
The rim of mine went crinkly after 3-4 years, but Tilley just said no to a replacement ..

We have assessed your item and have determined that it does not qualify for our Guaranteed for Life program.

Please note our Guaranteed for Life program covers tearing, fraying, defective material, or poor workmanship only. For example, if your hat has worn out due to normal wear and tear. Exclusions include damages caused by misuseor improper care, fading, out of shape (due to time of usage), or discoloration are also not covered by the program.

So I took the plastic bit out of the rim and replaced it with a length of strimmer line. All good now.

I was very impressed by Magura (A Bosch company) who make the brakes on my electric bike. I bought it used and after about 3 years the front hydraulic disc brake lost pressure. I contacted them and they asked me to remove and post back the complete assembly - lever, tube and calliper.
Posted Monday it was back with me my Wednesday - fully serviced and with new brake pads. All FOC under their 5 year warranty.

The good Musto warranties (HPX, MPX) were always provided by Goretex. They don't stand by their own fabrics or their garments in general beyond what is legally required sadly.
Wrong, complete retaping of my ancient second hand mpx jacket and salopettes FOC care of Musto.

Your ancient MPX has a warranty provided by Goretex, as I said. Musto are required to provide this when using the fabric. It's not a Musto warranty. I know this because I bought my MPX new and still have the warranty tags!

Musto choose Gore tex, so in my way of thinking it is Musto. No matter.
