leaking volvo dph steering rams

I was chatting to an engineer in spain last week about outdrives (volvo). He has to rebuild two 2 year old outdrives on a princess v45 (I think). The boat has joystick control which owner uses to get in and out. The clutches are all worn out already. It will engage drive if you use the throttles but there is an extra delay caused by the wear and the joystick computer doesn't like this and refuses to play. Apparently when using the joystick control the computer tends to use more revs and goes in and out of gear a lot more than a human driver. If there is a next boat I will try a different make of engines, cat or cummins maybe.
