Leaking hatch

I have had an annoying leak in the stern cabin for some time and have now traced it to leakage between the transparent plastic (type?) and the frame of the hatch.

It was reluctant to split the joint and I tried to squeeze come CT1 sealant in the gaps that are visible.

It was not effective.

Anyone resealed their hatch in this way?

I recall an outfit at SBS on previous visits that offered a service or is it possible to do the job yourself?

If so, what plastic and what sealant please?

I reseated a leaking deck hatch using ct1 but I had to completely remove the lens, remove all the old sealer and resealable with ct1. Plenty of masking tape is needed as it's difficult stuff to get a good finish. A wet finger is no use

The trick (as recommended by the CT1 people) is to use their Multi-Solve product as the lubricant. Spray onto your finger or the CT1 and smooth. It does work.

Eagle Boat Windows were a huge help for me - excellent advice, and they supplied a kit (sealant, primer and glazing strip I think) plus instructions. Well worth a call.

I find these brilliant for smoothing and shaping sillicone. Bit expensive but in my opinion well worth it.
