With the current & predicted weather problems, is it likely that LBS will actually run?

Difficult to believe that exhibits + visitors will be able to skate to this show.

Be interesting to see whether they take the decision to do some last minute ticket price deals to try and entice visitors to still make the effort to come.

If the number of commuters on the trains into town from the South over the past two days is anything to go by, they will be significantly down on last years numbers.

It's all there and set up, public transport is running well in London and environs, and the local roads are clear, so it's hardly likely they're gonna padlock the doors.

But what about those of us, who live in the colonies/shires etc, can't even get a bus out of my village at moment & I can spit on the IOW from where I live.
Not exactly outer Mongolia.

public transport is running well in London and environs,
but people attending this weekend or next will probably not agree.

With the exception of from Liverpool St all the suggested links from London Main rail stations use the Jubilee line to Canning Town (and then the DLR)
However an Saturday and Sunday the whole stretch from Stanmore through London as far as Waterloo will be closed as will the final strech from North Greenwich through Canning Town and West ham to Stratford on Saturday
(leaving only the bit between Waterloo and N. Greenwich operating on Saturday as far as I can see)

Be warned!
Saturday forget the Jubilee line.
Loads of other closures too including
Bank Station on DLR (until end of Jan) ... rules out using DLR all the way from Bank!
Circle line suspended Sat and Sun
H'smith & City line suspended between Kings X and H'smith, Sat and Sun.
Metroplitan line suspended from Harrow on the Hill to Aldgate. Sat and Sun
Victoria Line suspended Brixton to Warren St on Sat and Brixton to Highbury & Isligton on Sun

Check the TFL website ... Looks pretty similar for next weekend as well!

public transport is running well in London and environs,

Could you tell that to the two of our staff who are stuck on trains outside surbiton, and have been for 3 hours cos of a train fire?

Lets face it, public transport never runs well in London, strike this week, weather the next and engineering works the week after that

Sorry, I tend to forget about weekend engineering, coz it's every weekend, not just to upset LIBS visitors. Really crazy example is closing the Richmond branch of the Destruct Line on weekends when there's a rugby international at Twickenham. And the Overground Line to Stratford (used to go on to North Woolwich, through Custom House in the dim and distant) seems to have been closed every Sunday since MacMillan was PM. But you can still pick up the DLR at Tower Gateway - a short walk from Tower Hill Underground. As for Snooksie's colleagues and the train fire, not exactly an everyday occurrence.

Anyway, despite all that, snow up to the bottom lacehole of your deckies, and an invasion of flying gherkins from Uranus, the show will go on. Should be nice and quiet for those with serious shopping to do!

cross yer fingers

I really hope all is going to plan down at Excel, cos we're jumping on the train first thing tomorrow and off we go!

I've checked with the railway and, cable theft aside, we should be ok.

By the way, the Hilton has a deal for 2 nights for £140, including breakfast,

wish us luck ;)

Yep me too - going into London this evening and staying at the Tower until Sunday evening. Will be at the show on Friday so provided public transport is running ok tomorrow - I'M ALRIGHT JACK because the rest of the weekend was set aside for SWMBO'S annual shopping spree which can't happen if there's no transport. BONUS.

Cheers, Brian.

Good point - why not have it in a central uk venue say NEC in March , no wonder the attendance figures are dropping each year.

Just looking across from the Connaught bridge and all I can see outside is 4 rather large
sexy gin palaces and 2 narrow boats???????

cancel that, bridge has just lifted, 4 x dutch barge type boats, another 2 x narrowboats, a large nice looking sailing cat and the royal engineers (Romford Navy) with their fast boats.

Ok here is the truth

From someone who has spent the last two days there.

I grab my train from Twickenham whether going to the show or the office. At present its unpredictable and very crowded BUT plenty of trains are coming and going and its not that bad. In fact I took it the "long" way round today (10 mins longer) and it was empty as everyone was hell bent on being crowded and fast and took the short full one. The way home, just grab the first one thats there, yep busy but had a seat in first class earlier. So today was fine.

Tube is fine (part from this weekend) and the DLR was running fine.

Roads all clear now only the sides icy.

So will they come, well if you live in Guildford (which a good few do!) then prob no but a memebr of staff is getting up at 6 to walk 6 miles to the station to be there.

So to surmise, its a slight pain but not the end of the world.

Will it be down? if the weather stays like this of course it will but its not the first and wont be the last due to road closure, trains, fires weather etc.

Lets face it how many of you have put of a weekend of boating due to a little bad weather....

And as for Surbiton station its always a nightmare, either a fire or a favourite for jumpers due to the high speed...sad but true.

So see you all on Friday....
