Hi this is my first post on this forum.
I have a large lazarette on my Grand Soleil on the aft deck accessed by a deck hatch . This is lockable by way of a flush ,deck mounted , receiver - to all intents the same as that on the winches themselves which accepts the winch handle . It is then 'locked' by a 90 degree turn . Thats all well and good but its only a secure as someone with a winch handle which means I'm reluctant to leave too much in there and I've been trying unsuccessfully to source a suitable locking mechanism . I envisaged something similar to a cut off winch handle that would be inserted into the recess, turned to lock position with a removable key but I wondered whether anyone has any other ideas , or better still a working solution ?
