Hi, have read some threads on this and looked at Jim Bs site. Some ideas but would like up to date info if anyone has. The place that looks best for us is Asprakis Boatyard on Aegina. Good or bad? Another yard (Aegina Marine Centre) does not answer mails and the phone number is not in use. We have a boat burning money in the south of france and a crew ready to sail her to greece in May. Needs to be close to Athens or similar for easy flights home to Norway. Plan then is layup for a year and sail a couple of weeks each summer until we manage to sell her:) Basimakapoulio looked good but boats cannot stay on the hard in the summer. I see Preveza is also used but found no telephone info or yard name. Also I assume travel is more time consuming.
Time is short if we are going to get this done because of organising flights/free time for the crew.
Any ideas folks?

You should try

Kalamaki - not ever so secure but good facilities and 30minutes by taxi 45minutes by new tram to airport. best is olympic yacht yard at lavrion. only a few minutes from airport. google these names for information. yards on aegina require a trip on dolphin hydrofoil to piraeus and then a longer trip to airport. certain you will get a berth at kalamaki and you may be lucky at olympic. see heikell.
for "similar" see gouvia marina on corfu. it is safe, big and has full facilities also. many flights to all over europe may to october.ouitside this you will need to fly to athens for a connection. it is the only airport open in ionian in winter

The 3 yards on the Aktio side in Preveza are within walking distance from Aktio Airport.
Check for charter flights from Norway.

Thanks for replies.Lots to go on now:) Have mailed and "everywhere" has room, much to my surprise. Thought this would be more difficult. (Or am I talking too soon...)

try evoikok@otenet.gr

zacarias (or his son dennis speaks english) good yard and very secure.

If you do contact them say bill (Marios k) gave you their e-mail and they will be very helpful.

Its a family yard and a lot of people return and layup for long periods

They are good people

I have been advised that this is a good yard and it looks to be just where we want to be at end 2009. I e-mailed them several weeks ago, no reply. I spoke to a lady there on Friday. Her English wasn't great so I agreed with her that I would send a second e-mail. No reply so far. Be prepared to accept that e-mails don't bring much of a response.

Olympic at Lavrion has plenty of shore space for keeping the boat on the hard. It is very dusty but that's what hoses are for. They have all the expertise and experience for work which may be needed. Can't comment on recent prices.

Comments about being "a few minutes to the airport" are a bit optimistic. More like 30mins but the road is good and not bothered by city or cross-city traffic.

The town of Lavrion has all you will need for stocking up and there is a Lidl on the way from the airport to Lavrion. If you want to sail in the Saronic or Aegean, I would say Olympic is very convenient.

Thanks for that. olympic seems v. expensive compared to the others though: 450Euros per month from 1st Jan to 31 May, 250Euros per month rest of year. Lift out/in also more expensive at well over 500 Euros...

Looks great, but unfortunately too far for my father in law in the available time. Maybe next year...
EVERYWHERE has places available. Is this normal or a result of the famous economic crisis? I thought that it would mean boats being laid up ie full boatyards, but this does not seem to be the case so far.
