It seems to me that we've put the horse before the cart a bit on this issue. Discussing venues without an idea of the number of attendees.

So, the aim of this little poll is to create some clarity.
If you have voted that you would like to attend, please post below the likely number in your party.

Also assuming that we're going for the WE of 13/14 October. Posts elsewhere indicate that the tides that WE would favour those making a S -> N followed by a N -> S passage.

thanks for this. However, in my experience of organising several events for ECF forumites it seems that 'if you build it, they will come'. :D

Can't please all the people all the time!

Happy to go with whatever this poll demonstrates, but ultimately we'll fix a time and a place and if people can make it, they will. Equally happy for you to pick it up!!

Two attending with the proviso that swmbo desires a decent quality veggie option...

I would be keen on something modern and not carvery oriented...

It would also be nice to have a bit of a sail.. Even if it was just to Ipswich or woolverstone...

So, What's the verdict?

Looks like the Orwell weekend of the 13th...

Can we now think about the location?

Once again, I propose Ipswich!

it is not a done deal yet.... if you notice, the votes for the orwell are heavily weighted by people who can't make the date!

And I seem to be the only one who voted fairly by voting for all the options that I'd be prepared to make, rather the one I really wanted....

:p

Well i voted for my prefered choice... As per the poll!

Take out the one who can't make the date... And it's still two to one for the Orwell over the next most preffered....
:p

My concern is that we are four weeks away... Getting a venue may prove difficult if we leave it any longer...

That would be presumptuous of me... I am just spuring on the communal decision making process so as I can solid up my social calendar......

Rule 1: There are no rules

Rule2: See Rule 1

Take up the cudgel, and fear no forumite, for they shall follow.

Or do you want me to do it agin?

Currently listening to 21st Century Schizoid man, and have an angina position to consider

hmmm. If it was down to me, I would have done what I suggested in my first post on the topic and booked somewhere in Brightlingsea on the weekend of the 13th....
 indeed!

I'd say, if you are keen to go, whereever it is, then book the weekend in!

On a serious note though:
I don't think Ipswich is a goer for some of us Crouchites because it already takes me 7 hours to get up to Shotley and Ipswich is quite a bit further on. And some Crouchites are further away than that. I only suggested Brightlingsea because it just seems more central.

I don't mean to sound stroppy, because I will happily try to coordinate the event whatever people want, but I do feel that it's an impossibility to please everyone. Noone will be treading on my toes if someone else wants to try!

Ipswich venues get rowdy on Saturday nights, but MoodySabre and I know of a great pub in the town that would work.

No idea where you mean Jim but I think that may be the best option this late in the day. As I see it, those South of the Orwell are going to be going with the tide over that weekend, whereas those heading South would be pushing it. That, plus the deeper water for vessels that often can't make it to meetings, makes Ipswich seem to be the most logical venue

As it happens, my vote went for the date and location I could probably make, even if by road, even far off places as Louise said she wouldn't drink in case we needed to get back :o
