Launderettes? Cheap service washes? Whats the inside track here please. Currently Argostoli, newly arrived from Sicily - got the interweb and DEKPA sorted now to try and smell nice again :) Planning to spend much of the summer around the Ionian so info for forward planning would be useful.

To complete the picture - laundrettes are few and far between, more likely you'll find a laundry, who return the folded. dried garments for about €11-13. Laundrettes cost between €5-8, to which cost you need to add your time, drying cost and wash-detergent.

Nearly everywhere has a laundry - I know of only 7 laundrettes in the Ionian.

There are quite a enterprising people that will let you use their machines, most of them are very small operations that consist of a machine or two and as has been said will charge you around 5 euros, maybe a little more now. We always used to dry our washing on lines strung around the boat. Meant no need to iron (not that we ever did anyway!) and it smelled fresh. In addition to the ones mentioned on the thread they also did it in Sivota and Abelike, as well as places in Corfu. Am sure there were more places, but cannot remember them now, we never had a problem finding some where to do it.

Bit far from you but still in the Ionian, the service wash at Gouvia Marina is very good indeed and quite reasonably priced. Take it in the morning and collect in the evening, washed, dried and if appropriate, all bagged up.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. It all helps with planning, providing the wind co-operates!

Davy_S, dont know when you were last in Argostoli but there doesnt seem to be a laundrette there now. There were rumours that there used to be but it closed a couple of years ago, sadly we'd moved on before I saw your reply so cant check that location unless we go back there. Leo at the Kafenion on the waterfront at Argostoli will organise service washes at €15/4Kg which seemed a lot - maybe it isnt

Doing a bit of our own research; Chef John's in Port Kastos have installed 3 x washers and 3 x dryers, I believe new this year. These are available at €4 (1x2 + 2x1 coins) for each use (wash or dry) but if you eat there as well you then get a 15% discount on the meal to offset against the washing
