Congratulations! thats a big garden pond you have there /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif!
My boat launches in 12 days, I am getting very nervous...

Looks fabulous!

And it makes a change from that nice Mr Sailor bloke who's doing really well in the charts tonight...

I'm hoping to get my boat lifted in tomorrow... but not into the bottom of the garden.

Hey! Popular demand.

Nigel. Wasn't it feasible to just use the crane and carry it in the slings to the water?

[/ QUOTE ]

No - we did ask .... but he reckoned not. He was a 5 ton crane at max span ... and boat is just over 3 ...

Yep the garden has some deep ruts in it now ... and one of Svet's flower borders got clipped by the trailer !! OOPs ! I promised that wouldn't happen ...

Just got to sort that b******** engine now !!

If wind doesn't increase anymore today - might have the mast up !!

Great spot... is that your place in the background?

[/ QUOTE ]

Yes it is ... undergoing "rebuild" ... its a 100 year old Latvian Timber house built for 4 families ... we've combined all into one large lot. 50's - 70's - it was the secret KGB interrogation centre ... and we have a very large cellar !! that used to be cells for 10 people.

What you see is top part old cladding, bottom is new walls with 10" rockwool insulation ... plastic membrane and then OSB sheet to close of. WE will then masonry paint a light coffee-cream colour over top of the sheeting ... fix on matt black timber strips to create a mock Tudor finish ... a 3 year project !

The back wall - which is the black plastic membrane bit you can see ... the steel vertical pipe is for the 4.5m balcony to be built from the bedroom out ... overlooking the river. It will be spilt into two sections ... first with removable glass panels to the floor and outer half open balcony with stairs to garden. Idea being that winter we put in glass panels top close and create a sun trap ... but in summer we remove glass panels and open up balcony completely ...

Yep - all costs money !! (one visitor yesterday for launch party is a real estate agent in Riga ... she asked if we were interested to sell ... reckoned near 1.5 mill Euros !!! I fell out of my chair .... only paid £65K for it 4.5 years ago !!..... Svet and I would never sell though ... it's a dream !)

Wise move. I wouldn't like to ask a crane driver to pick and carry a load over uneven ground and around trees like that. Especially something fragile like a boat. You've got the truck so you might as well use it.
